June 16,
We are at EGO safe & sound! Everything thru customs fine. When we left airport, I headed one direction to avoid traffic, but Doris insisted on going to One Stop to drop a check off, so turned around to go back in front of airport. A man purposedly hit his fist on front fender & then laid down like he had been hit. We did not stop - called Amos - told him what happened - he said to go! The gangs plan these fake accidents to collect $ - so please be praying for our safety. Trip home uneventful. Dad looks tired. I will keep his work load to a minimum! Promise! The countryside is beautiful - PAP is a mess - so many people with no place to go or nothing to do. Pray for Larry Judy & wife - he is worn out - PAP takes it all out of you! Russ - I need a plan for EGO on elect - why can't I even run a fan or charge a phone? FOHO has good power, fans, refrigeration, etc. This guest house needs ? I have 3 total for July 15-29 - anymore leadings from our Father? Must go - this Blkbry battery is about spent! Love you all & please pray! Steve

“The leaky house fools the sun, but doesn't fool the rain” TENTS STILL NEEDED!
http://giveatent.org/ This is probably the most important thing you could do right now to help Haiti, other than to pray for God’s providence in the world and for those who distort His truth and substitute false truth as though it was real truth! Thank you for your help!
I have personally purchased the above 2 tents. Great value for the money! On Sale Today!
Van Update: It has arrived in HAITI!
The new van is in Miragoane, Haiti at customs. Please pray that that Amos Charles & Rueben Alphonse, two young men that both grew up at the Ebenezer Glenn Orphanage, will be able to negotiate fairly with custom officials this next week, to secure its release!
If you could help us with the shipping ($2,080) and the customs tax/duty to be paid ($8,125) please contact EGO at: http://www.ebenezerglennorphanage.org/ to use our on-line donation link. We could really use your help! To send a check, please mail to:

We have a “Work Group Suggestion” sheet that outlines dress and your code of conduct while at EGO. This sheet is not set in stone, but we do use this list as a base, so everyone knows what’s expected before they come. Please remember that we are a witness to the children at EGO and to the people in Dessalines. Our talk, our walk, and our presence, is watched constantly. Do not do or say anything that would jeopardize the ministry that has been laid at EGO. Please consider donating some of your time this summer. Can you help? March 24
Praise the Lord. After 44 days the container was finally released from customs. Thank you everyone that spent time buying just the special items to send. Our hearts our rejoicing with tears in our eyes. We are overwhelmed at the blessings we have received. God knows our future and what will happen up ahead. I can't find the words only since the container has come we haven't ceased Praising the Lord!
Doris
NOTE from Marla: Doris, Petion, Rueben and Ken went into St. Marc Tues., March 23, and the container was released to them. Received a call around 11:30 a.m. it was heading to EGO. Around 1:30 p.m. the semi pulled into the Tabernacle yard and we began unloading. For us Americans it was a very hot and tiring three hours. But it was finally unloaded and the truck driver was on his way back. We have learned from YWAM that the two containers from MFI have been released as well and will be arriving in the next day or two. WOW! We took lots of pictures and video. It was trully overwhelming and amazing to say the least. Doris and Don have not stopped smiling. Their home is a maze. They have already begun the distribution processed and we see many happy Haitians.
March 14, update
CONTAINER UPDATES: (The short version)
News flash…well not what you think. Monday on the way back home we stopped in St Marc only to find the papers had to be sent back to Port again. Tuesday, more complications--now the "Bill of Lading" has been "misplaced"--I have a copy but they must look for the original! Only God knows!
“My brothers and sisters, consider it nothing but joy when you fall into all sorts of trials, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance” James 1:8 (NET)
Tchweebbee & Ruben's Wedding
Ruben is married! He is another one of the fine young men brought up in the orphanage. He is also the Haition Director of the Orphanage.
The best man didn’t show! He was to bring the suit for Ruben. He was a little beside himself but within two days, after much searching, he was able to have one made. It was a beautiful wedding in a beautiful church for two beautiful people that God ordained to join together. ---Now for a place for them to live!!!
The trip to Cayes was long--a 5 hour drive - all the way through Port au Prince and a long way out where there were fallen buildings and then hundreds of little tent cities. Some had been given by different organizations and some made with sheets or whatever could be found and then when it rains…..do they have anything to sleep on?…and the list goes on. So very heart wrenching!
After 5 days away we were certainly happy to return home. We never cease to give thanks for our bed and all the comforts we have. Waiting for us were Dr. Deb, Dr. Laurie with her family and friend. It was good to see them again along with all their stories. Doris Peavey
Update on the New/Used 2002 Ford E-350 Diesel Van:
I flew to Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday morning and after a 20 minute cab ride in a light rain, I arrived at Marietta Truck Sales. I have been a car guy my whole life. When I opened the doors and looked inside, I could not believe my eyes! When you buy something sight unseen, you must trust your instincts about the person you are talking with on the other end of the phone. The young man I had talked to on the phone was named Richard, and when I first talked with him, I asked him if he knew God? He said he did, so I asked him if he knew if he was going to heaven, and Richard said he did! I then asked him if he was born again? And, he said, Yes he was! So, I then asked him if he would sell this van to his own church, and again, he said, absolutely YES! So, when I arrived, God showed me what He had given us. This van looks like brand new! The state of Georgia was the owner, so I assumed that they had transported college or athletic teams to events. Not so! It was too clean and there were no scratches or evidences of a lot of wear & tear. This van looks like it never saw a rough day in its life. Well, God now has some work prepared for this vehicle, in Haiti. Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Great is His name above all names. Thank you Jesus!

If interested in being a part of one of these teams, please send me an email at: s.r.scheib@gmail.com so I can start planning the schedule. Ideally, 5 to 8 members per team. I have been asked about teenagers coming as part of the team, and my response is Yes! Sometimes, parents have a child or teenager who is rebelling and they reason that a trip to Haiti might cure the problem. Well, it’s not the trip to Haiti that will fix them; it’s Jesus and the Holy Spirit who doctors and ministers to anyone who makes themselves available. We have a set of rules, regulations, and suggestions for work teams to EGO. They are not set in stone, but we do use this list as a base. As long as anyone coming agrees to abide and will try to conform, we will welcome them! Also, I have been asked about females being a part of the team. My answer is Yes! They keep the men civil and usually they smell way better!
TEAM MEMBER PROFILE: I need commercial carpenters; ironworkers; fabricators; welders; block layers; cement finishers; electricians; pipe fitters or plumbers; cooks; cabinet makers; and paramount to all these mentioned skills are Christians! NOTE: I welcome anyone who thinks they could help. If you have a friend or colleague who is not a Christian, they are welcome, however, they must know that we have rules and requirements that must be adhered to when at EGO and in Haiti. I can provide this list at your request. I specify these skills for volunteers because this is a lot of work to get done in 45 days. We cannot waste money or time given to us in this window. If we are a part of these teams, you will work very hard. This is a WORK TEAM! This is not a missionary experience to explore the Haitian culture, but you will be exposed to this and our Sundays are totally free after church. And we only work until 4 to 5 in the afternoon. We take 1 to 1 ½ hours for lunch, as it is very hot in July and August (95 to 105 degrees). It drains you and wears you out. You will become crabby and a complainer. Even the most disciplined Christian who thrives on his or her spirituality will be susceptible. You will share living quarters that are a shelter, but not the Hilton. You will be expected to help haul water, clean up 2 to 3 times per day, cook, maintain the one toilet and shower that all will share, help each other spiritually, participate in a morning devotional on Faith & Humble Service (Luke 17: 5-10) that is mandatory, and partake in the fellowship of the brotherhood of Christ! And I promise you this; you will grow in your faith and will leave Haiti a changed and different person than when you came. Cost per team member is approximately $1500 for airfare, food, lodging, supplies, fees, donations, fuel, transportation, etc. I know I have not covered everything, but this is a start. I will need help in coordinating this effort. I have way too much on my plate right now, but am excited about this next building phase at EGO. I have my business to run until I leave Cedar Rapids, Iowa on June 22nd to drive the new van to Florida and get it loaded on a ship. I will probably fly into either Cape or PAP on Thursday, June 24th. Please pray about this. Do not respond out of emotion. Respond because the Holy Spirit directs you and leads you and shows you what you must do. Thanks. Steve Scheib
Dad started the little Honda so I could check and see if it connected....... PRAISE THE LORD! We are up and running!!!! Well, not only the internet but we too.
Three men went home yesterday and two are still here working on getting the first container out of customs. At least this is the last day in the week we have to travel the 1 ½ hours to St. Marc and walk and wait and wait and wait!
This morning the Holy Spirit reminded me THAT IT'S .........
NOT BY MIGHT NOR BY POWER B-U-T- BY MY S-P-I-R-T SAYS THE LORD OF HOST! PRAISE THE LORD! Love you all PRAY!!! Mom
SOMEONE ASKED ME IF CHILDREN RAISED IN AN ORPHANAGE IN HAITI CAN HAVE AN IMPACT AFTER THEY ARE RAISED AND THEN LEAVE TO MAKE IT ON THEIR OWN? My answer is YES!!!!!
Amos Charles – raised from a baby at EGO – An update:
Here shown with his wife and first baby!
From a Pastor in Pignon:
Wow!! The first day of the prayer and fasting service was wonderful. It was one of the best experiences of my life. There was such a spirit of unity and praise. The pictures can't even begin to show how many people were packed into the worship center. Actually, my camera died after these pictures. More and more people came as the day progressed. I have no idea how many people were there. Our worship center is a big, open building and there was no walking area at all. People spilled out into the lawns. All the churches united to give the service. Justin, JeanJean's brother, told the assembly that this was a glimpse of the universal church that we will see in heaven. There was a lot of singing and praising; prayers of confession, adoration, supplication, and thanksgiving; testimonies that would make you cry, and many good Biblical messages from local pastors. JeanJean taught on the reason for fasting and prayer from Isaiah 58:1-12. He encouraged the people to rejoice that the president of Haiti, Renee Preval, has cancelled Carnival and given Christians the chance to make a new Haiti. That was a common theme among the pastors--let us look forward to a brand new Haiti that will look to God for their leadership and not look to Satan as their leader. I wish these pictures and this poor attempt of mine to describe the service could be better. I wish you could have all been there in person to experience the joy and faith of the brothers and sisters in the service. There was not a sense of discouragement or hopelessness like the world might expect. No, God gave His people a peace that is beyond understanding. The people prayed for you, too! They prayed for all the people that prayed, cried, donated so much, who just remembered them. And one more thing that was prayed for was for the future government. The presidential election will be coming up--pray for a godly leader. We have 2 more days of prayer to look forward to. I'm going to try to send you a link to a youtube video that I attempted to upload. I'm not the best at this, but hopefully you'll get it in a later email. God bless you!!!
JeanJean and Kristie Mompremier
Second day of prayer and fasting! Many were praying! Over 80 people gave their lives to Jesus. The tabernacle was completely full. Every pew, extra pews, chairs. Many were looking in through the windows. Both sides of the building were filled with people standing for hours. The service went from six in the morning until after one in the afternoon.
Even now in every city, churches are uniting for services. The tabernacle is filled again tonight. Praise God from whom all Blessings Flow!

CONFESSION & REPENTANCE
COMES TO HAITI:
Lord, hear our prayer!!! This is Mardi Gras weekend, celebrated by most of Haiti.... now declared by the president a weekend of prayer and fasting. At the crack of dawn people began pouring into the community center for prayer, singing, reading scripture and just worshipping. Never have we seen such response in Haiti!! I feel like Simeon when he held the Christ child at the temple. If the last 40 years we have served in Haiti, in hope to see this point of revival; the time is all worth it. Please pray with us that this nation will proclaim itself a Christian nation instead of a voodoo nation. God hears!!
“This weekend, which has always been Mardi Gras or Carnival, a holiday given to satan, has been declared by President Preval, a weekend of prayer and fasting. Yesterday, word was sent that everyone should pray at home because the churches wouldn't be able to hold everyone. Early this morning Milo, the pastor at the community church here, came running over to get the key to storage to get all the extra chairs out. And, he needed to get the planks and blocks out of storage to make more benches for people to sit on. Now, the church is so full that people have to sit outside in the sun (which they never like to do as it's so hot there) but they said they didn't mind. You can hear the singing and praise from the church here in the house. The shouts sound like a soccer game. Oh you can't imagine the site!! People everywhere gathering to pray and praise the living God!!! God is moving! God is moving! Oh, miracle of miracles, God be praised”. Doris Peavey - Ebenezer Glenn Orphanage in Dessalines, Haiti

Urgent Prayer
Please pray one conatiner has reached Haiti in customs at St. Marc the container is sitting there un-opened and the officials wanting ½ of its contents or up to $8,000 in fees to let it through. EGO has an additional 2 – 40 foot containers sitting at dock in Riviera Beach, Florida destined for EGO. Monarch Shipping Lines and its agent R.J. are trying to help us get these containers fully loaded with food and relief supplies into Haiti with no duty.
On Friday, in Port au Prince, President Preval told a closed room of relief agency administrators that he would just as soon let everything ROT IN STORAGE, before he would allow anymore items to come into the country – DUTY FREE! He said that unless the missions, the NGO’s, & relief organizations PAY Haiti nothing will come in. He promised that it will sit and be tied up in customs for days on end!
DOES THIS SOUND LIKE A MAN WHO IS CONCERNED ABOUT HIS FELLOW COUNTRYMEN AND FELLOW CITIZENS! The all encompassing President of Haiti Rene Preval, who then told the citizens of Haiti to fast this coming Friday thru Wednesday of next week, to see if God would help heal their country. Really?
Called Mom on her cell phone this evening and they were just coming off the main rd from Port-au-Prince. They spent the day in Port going from one place to another, the roads were blocked, houses about to fall so they'd have to take another road. Trying to put together a handwritten list of things to do and places to go to get the duty waived. Steve has a call into Pres. Clinton and Terry Snow, with YWAM in St. Marc is meeting with the U.N. in the a.m. The Haitian that is sharing the container with us got there today and he said that he has a franchise and connections. We'll see. Please pray. Mom said the custom officials were siphoning gas out of tanks taken off the ship and just taking what they wanted. Someone just told them to put their container back on the ship as they would just take it back to the States. They want $$ under the table and know how to wear people down. Gwen is supposed to be trying to fax something they need from headquarters but last time I tried to do that the fax machine wasn't working. It had been smoking but the phone and copier still worked. Pray that they get the papers and win favor with God and man. Doris went to FOHO for the first time, stood there and grieved for their friends. She sounds tired and frazzled. Please pray for strength, wisdom and clarity of mind during these times. Pray for safe delivery of everything in the containers. Thank you for your prayers, Vicky
Feb. 6 From Mom: (Doris)
Please send everything as quickly as possible. I just heard a most remarkable story from Steve Scheib in Iowa that MFI is going to get a container for us to ship everything in. They have so much that people have left off and said give it to whomever.....along with things designated for EGO....I'm am so elated---God is so good! NO CUSTOMS FEES and will be delivered right to our place. AMAZING! OUR GOD IS SO FULL OF SURPRISES !
I CAN'T HELP BUT JUMP FOR JOY AND GIVE OUR PRESCIOUS SAVIOR PRAISE!!!!
THANK YOU JESUS !!!!!!!! Doris
Heard from Mom today. This place was almost to Port-au-Prince. The Samaritan's Purse location was clean and the people were so nice. She said that the Haitians loading up the van were praising the Lord with them. They received rice, corn, beans and oil!!! On the way out the man in charge waved her in and told her that she might have some "in's" in Port at the airport. Thank God!!!
Please continue to pray for the container. It is to arrive in St. Marc sometime today or this weekend. I hear that Bill Clinton arrived in Port Wed. to head up the U.N. there. I don't know what you feel about him but he can negotiate (Oil Can Harry, remember?) and has the heart of an American. Maybe by the time the container arrives the duties will be waived. Vickie
News about the last container that was sent to Haiti from your contributions. It was supposed to arrive in Gonaive, Haiti Mon but was delayed until tomorrow, Thursday, Feb 4. Mom (Doris Peavey) has been calling the shipping port but has not been able to get through as they are very busy. Today she got through only to find that they couldn't get the container on this ship out to Gonaive either and wondered if it would be O.K. to ship it to St. Marc. She was elated, that was the port they'd preferred in the first place. The unloading dock in Gonaive is way back from the public and so many things come up missing. The one in St. Marc is closer to the public and you can drive up and unload. God's hand is being seen already. I heard that they're saying on the radio there are 1,000 planes lined up in the states loaded and waiting to fly supplies to Haiti. The Haitian gov have recently decided to place heavy duty on all things coming into Haiti and these flights are waiting for negotiations to resolve this quickly. Please pray, not only for the safe transfer and voyage home, but for the duties will be lifted in time for the container to arrive. Please remember that the majority of supplies getting to the people are coming via missions that have been previously established there in Haiti. Please know where your donations are going so that they might make the most difference in the lives of the people there. God Bless, Vickie
Since the earthquake, thousands of people from Port-au-Prince have fled to small towns, seeking food, water, and
medical help. EGO has been inundated with refugees.
+ Feb 3 The containers are now scheduled to arive on Thursday Feb. 4 please pray for free duty fees.
+Immediate prayer request Friday Jan. 29, 2010
Doris has asked for a special prayer force this weekend. On Monday, two containers, one full of food and supplies for EGO and another filled with parts to repair fresh-water wells all around the countryside (along with an older used truck to help haul the supplies) will arrive by ship in Gonaives. Please pray for God's intervention through the customs process--first, that items won't be stolen (this is usually a big problem!), and second, for the cost. We'd been told previously that relief items were customs free--now they're asking for thousands of dollars in duties--and EGO doesn't have that kind of money. GOD IS GOOD AND STILL IN CONTROL!!
Sunday, January 17th --PRAISE GOD! PRAISE GOD! PRAISE GOD! We've had quite a Sunday! After a good service we visited the people now resting in our compound. (We’ve been seeing an influx of injured coming north from Port. The hospital is full, as are others around, and they have been coming to the clinic.) First to the Girls dorm to visit the ladies—one of the older ones is a diabetic with a huge sore on her leg; another has an infected wound; then to the boys dorm where a man had escaped a fallen building displacing his knee and breaking his femur. He had dragged his body out and a passing motorbike picked him up. He was able to get it set at Des Chappelle hospital.
The U.N. escorted Lawrence Jones here from St. Marc (one of the UN personnel was a Medic. She took care of the two ladies. It was much appreciated.) He had flown over from the States to the Dominican Republic, then stopped at his headquarters—“Mission Direct”—and rented a truck and bought food, fuel, everything we needed. I can't begin to name it all but one special moment was when we found that he had bought us one bottle of olive oil. God had placed it on his heart. He didn't know that just a couple of days before, I had purchased one in St. Marc but had knocked it off the stove and it broke. I felt so badly I cried. His explanation when I asked him what had prompted him to bring it was “Just because we like it and thought you might like it too!” Glory! He brought the money that Gwen wired him zipped inside of a belt. How blessed we are!!!! We can't get over someone coming all of those miles, going to all the trouble of renting a truck and buying all the needed things. I know there are many more that are doing the same thing. We want to thank you in advance for all you are doing for EGO and the suffering people of Haiti. May God pour you our a blessing your cup cannot contain.
Jan. 14, 2010
For those of you who have not yet heard, Doris, Don and all at EGO are safe! They felt the quake strong enough that all the buildings were shaking, but no damage there. Even those who were in Port au Prince at the time of the quake are safe and have all returned to EGO.
Below is a note from Doris' daughter, Vickie, with some of the miraculous details. Our concern now is logistics--how to get supplies to them, i.e. propane, diesel fuel, etc. Their supply of those items is okay for now, and we're trusting God that as we help those in need around us, He will keep the barrels flowing. Please continue to pray.
My Dear Precious Ones,
I want to thank you for praying for my parents, the orphanage, friends, the conditions there and most of all, that God would show through the darkness there. As you know, everyone there in Dessalines, 90 mi. NE of Port, are fine. The buildings are intact. They are now getting the influx of injured from Port. The hospital there in Dessalines is full, Albert Schweitzer (sp) is full and probably St. Mark and Gonaives are filled to capacity. People are coming into the clinic there at EGO, fortunately Talante just purchased more meds. There are a few men in Orlando who want to go over with medical supplies Feb 9th if anyone has meds to send (would be great to send $$ to take the extra wt, also). Food is scarce but as God blessed the widow’s oil and meal, so He will once again bless what the orphanage gives out. Hopefully they can connect with some of the organizations bringing in relief supplies there.
I bring you good news today. I just got off the phone with Mom and she had some miraculous stories. Rachel, EGO accountant and one of the triplets raised there, had gone into Port that day to shop for some supplies. She felt the bus weaving and shaking but didn’t know if it was her or what. When they disembarked, she was hungry so bought a bite to eat. The food she had purchased needed some more sauce so she headed back toward the bldg when she felt the earth shake and parts of building falling around her. People began to run and scream in terror but she just crouched down where she was, alone with her hands over her head. When the shaking and rubble ceased to fall, she stood and looked around. The place where the people ran was where the building fell and they were all dead under the debris. God had kept her safe. It seemed that in every direction, God’s angel protected. She was able to call her brother and tell him that all the college kids there in Port were at the house and safe (despite being only 10 blocks from where FOHO had collapsed) but saw buildings all around them down. Rachel’s fiance is a teacher in Port. He was to teach a late class so was there early. He heard someone call his name, “Samuel ….” He went to the window, then to the door to look out and see but saw nobody. He went back in and began to write on the blackboard when he heard it again, “Samuel ……”. He went outside and down the steps when the entire building collapsed behind him. I think God has a purpose for his life and isn’t done with him yet. Rueben, another of the triplets, had lost contact with his fiance. She is now found and O.K.
Yesterday, Rachel was leaving Port and begged her sister, Ruth, along with the other 4 young men there to come home with her. Ruth hadn’t eaten anything and was tired and dirty. She said that she wouldn’t.. they needed nurses there in Port. Last night Rachel came home, it seems that busses were giving free rides just to get people home. You see, the heart of the Haitian is so kind and giving, in general, and will do almost anything to help another. She came home by herself and as she came down the street, Mom could hear wailing as Rachel stopped to tell neighbors that their children had been lost as schools collapsed with them inside. Mom made her way to them and tried to comfort them. She had prayer and began walking home when their son, who had been quite a bad boy - into much trouble- began to follow her. She put her arm around his shoulders, he put his arm around her waist, talked and then he asked her if she would pray with him. She eagerly accepted….. Another victory for God… another ray of light.
Well, it was later when Mom heard several footsteps coming up their stairs. In came Ruth and the four boys hungry, dirty and tired. Ruth asked Mom if she had any bread, she had just enough and pulled out the rest of the eggs she had so Ruth prepared them each an egg sandwich.
While I was talking to her Milo (was an orphan, works for Dad and is ordained pastor of the chapel there) peeked her head in and said that they had found his nephew, alive and well. She said that reports have been coming in constantly. She requested prayer for her mind, she’s tired, not sleeping at night, and her mind is so full. Please remember to pray for the road ahead for all of these.
Thank you for your time and prayers,
Vickie
